For people who enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking and other outdoor activities (skiing, kayaking, climbing). Many of the events will be hikes that will allow old and new residents to enjoy the great outdoors and scenic areas around the Triangle area.

THOG is now in our 4th year of operation. We are one of the largest and most active outdoors groups in the Triangle area. In the past 12 months we have hosted over 250+ events. You won't find social mixers, dining events or parties on our site. What you will find are some of the most unique outdoor adventures in the Triangle area. Whether its hiking, bicycling, zip-lining, backpacking, rafting, kayaking, snow skiing, snowshoeing, or camping, we've likely done it!

Learn about the great sport of climbing by joining one of REI's experienced climbers for a presentation of climbing gear, equipment and apparel. We'll go through the basics of what you'll need to get started as well as what you'll need as you become a more advanced climber. We'll also give you top picks of places to climb for all experience levels.

So, I just realized I dont have a softball game tomorrow and I have to weigh in on Thursday. Let's get some cardio in on Wednesday evening by enjoying a peaceful 2 mile walk at Shelley Lake. This is my favorite park to walk. Join me if you can.

Wear good walking shoes and bring your water bottle. Make contact with your buddy/partner and try to carpool.

Tired of standing around and watching people at bars? Tired of small talk? Come out and mingle with a fun group at latin dance events. No pressure to dance (bar/good atmosphere), and no salsa experience required!

We try to hold an official meetup for dancing each week. Also, we rotate and select different venues whenever possible to keep things fresh.

If you sign up for this group, please participate. That's the only way you'll learn the dances and make new friends.

Finally a real beginner class for all our members. We have worked out a deal with Mambo Dinamico to offer special discounts to our group. This is a regular Salsa After Work event on Tuesdays where they offer raw beginner and intermediate beginner classes from 7:00pm-9:00pm. There is a free social from 9:00pm-11:00pm to practice what you have learned. The classes normally cost $15 but if you signed up and mention that you are from this meetup group, the cost is only $10. So come join us!

Ever notice that the small dog sections of our dog parks aren't as active as the big dog sections? Let's change that! We will meet at local dog parks or do short hikes with our little dogs.

Any breeds or mixes 20lbs or less full grown are welcome!

Join the SPCA for a howling good time at the most dog-friendly block party in Wake County!

The Shops at Seaboard Station, led by Seaboard Imports and Redpin Gallery, is celebrating its seventh year of Down By the Tracks, a premiere fund raising event benefiting the SPCA of Wake County.

For a minimum $5 donation cover charge, you can bring your dog and enjoy an evening of live music by The Peace Street Band, a silent auction, doggie pools, family portraits, wine and beer tastings, and more!

Last year over 1,000 people and 350 dogs came out to help raise more than $15,000 for the SPCA. The 2008 event promises even more excitement: more vendors, more cold beverages, new music, and more of Wake County's coolest canines!

The Raleigh Durham Single Parents Meetup Group is support group for single parents and their children and provides opportunities for friendship and emotional support. The parents in our group have a variety of backgrounds - divorced, never married, separated or widowed. The ages for the kids range from infants to teens. It doesn't matter how you became a single parent or how old your children are, you are welcome to join us. Most of our events are kid-friendly and include museums, amusement parks, picnics at the playground, ZOO visits, kid-friendly hikes and camping trips.

Bugfest:
We will primarily focus on the kid-friendly exhibits and learn about different kinds of insects, spiders and other arthropods. There will be an opportunity to hold tobacco moth caterpillars, giant cockroaches and other creepy crawalers. Watch the Roachingham 500 -- the famous cockroach race and taste the food from Cafe Insecta made from real insects. The Kid Zone activities include Doodle Bugs street art, Create-A-Bug with the scrap exchange, flea circus, face painting, button-making and anthropod olympics.
